Biobanc de l’Hospital Infantil Sant Joan de Déu

The Biobank (BHISJDI) of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) is a monographic biobank focused in children and women health. HSJD is located in Barcelona and is associated to Barcelona University (UB), being a highly specialized hospital that focuses on the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of pediatric patients, especially in complex and rare diseases. HSJD is part of several national accredited assistance units (CSUR) as well as international, being involved in 14 ERNs such as PaedCan-ERN, ERN-NMD, EPIcare or ERN-RND. Our biobank focuses on offering high quality biological samples to perform translational research that has a direct impact on patients, offering them a personalized medicine.

• Collection, processing, comprehensive management and custody of biological samples.
• Creation of ad hoc sample collection circuits
• Scientific and technical advice on data management and biological samples
• Legal and ethical advice on data management and biological samples
• Technical support in research projects (AANN extraction and quality control, protein extraction, biopsy sectioning, basic staining, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, development of new antibodies, Western Blot, optical and fluorescence microscope image capture )
• As collections of strategic biological samples, apart from the serum library and DNA bank of several rare childhood diseases and those from healthy controls, we have:
o Fibroblast cultures from neuromuscular, metabolic, and mitochondrial diseases, as well as healthy controls.
o Developmental tumor samples.
o Malformations of the development of the central nervous system.
or PBMC of rheumatological and immunological diseases.
o Immortalization of B lymphocytes from immunological diseases.
o Biological samples, including respiratory samples, from pediatric patients with severe, moderate and mild SARs19 infection.
